How much do you need to feed your plants? – A-Grade Hydroponics

How much do you need to feed your plants?

A-Grade’s guide on feeding volumes and pot capacity

Many customers ask us how much solution do they need to feed plants that are being grown under artificial lighting indoors and grown in Coco Coir or Coco perlite mixes. The answer is never the same so maybe a chart with pot sizes and recommended volumes might be the best way to address this question.

First, a few things to consider and check here:

Temperatures: if the root-zone is too cold no amount of food is being absorbed, if the environmental temp is too low etc. IF the room is too hot, your plants will over-consume and dry their pots out at a very high rate.

Light Intensity: if your grow room is utilising high intensity lights, your plants will consume significantly more than a plant growing under a weak light source.

Humidity: Similar to temperature and working in conjunction with it, Vapour Pressure Deficit effects feeding, high humidity will generally see very low rates of consumption from your plant. Likewise, low humidity environments will generally see  a high rate of consumption, with minor exception. (See our VPD tutorial for more info on this metric)

The A-Grade Guide

Here we will use the Geo-Pot Fabric grow pots as our size guide as they are the most commonly used growing pot in the industry. Below is a basic guide on how much to feed your most precious plants. Keep in mind, the guide below should be used as a guideline to follow loosely, every situation will be unique and may require slight alteration.

Note: You can split up your feeding frequency as much as you wish, but the overall volume of liquid to feed will remain consistent per day, regardless of the number of feeds it is split into.
