2025 Karma Cup Winners – Seed to Success

The 12th annual Karma Cup crowned Canada’s top cannabis cultivars, with VASCO, 514, PURPLEFARM, and Green Joy taking home CANNA-backed trophies.

Karma Cup History

Founded by Sarah Sunday in 2014, the Karma Cup has become Canada’s most notorious Cannabis Cup to date. The blind competition, held downtown Toronto, showcases flower and hash entries produced by Canadian growers in unmarked packaging and judged by a group of roughly 75 connoisseurs.

In 2025, CANNA headline sponsored the event, supporting a competition that demonstrates the aptitude and innovation of licensed producers. By proxy, the Karma Cup also shines a light on the nutrient inputs and raw materials that are the building blocks of the cultivators’ success.

1st Place for VASCO at the Karma Cup

Coming in 1st place in the Indica and Hybrid categories, VASCO, led by Head of Cultivation and Master Grower Nicolas Dahan, presented two knockout cultivars originating with Cipher Genetics.

“Our approach has always been simple,” says Dahan, “we don’t cut corners. We combine a hands-on cultivation philosophy with the latest technologies to make sure every plant gets exactly what it needs, exactly when it needs it.”

Despite the painstaking process, the result speaks for itself, which is why the team at VASCO stands behind every plant they produce.

“Working with CANNA is such a key part of our approach, says Dahan. “It removes a critical area of concern by ensuring our nutrient program is dialed in and consistent every single run.”

Amnesia Haze by 514 Tops the Charts at Karma Cup

Master Grower Patrick Pagé, along with Alternate Master Grower Jesse Mancini, and the entire GWNG team behind 514 Amnesia Haze have proven a consistent, fan-favorite Sativa that placed 3rd in both the Sativa flower and Pre-roll categories.

Pagé calls taking home not one, but two trophies, “one of those life goal moments.” He says Amnesia Haze tops the charts in Canadian cannabis because of the people at 514.

“I’m super proud of the team for putting in the hard work to bring consistent, clean, quality cannabis products to market that we can truly be proud of […] All of this is made possible with the help of our friends at CANNA – our preferred substrates and nutrients here at 514,” says Pagé.

Miracle Mints & Lime Runtz by PURPLEFARM

Grower-owned PURPLEFARM connects art and cannabis through a precise and creative cultivation approach. Led by Master Grower Jozef Spiteri, the team secured 2nd place in both Hybrid and Sativa categories for their standout cultivars Miracle Mints and Lime Runtz.

Known for terpene-forward profiles and bag appeal, PURPLEFARM’s entries reflect a careful balance of genetics, environment, and inputs, harnessed by expert cultivators.  Their success at last year’s Karma is supported, in part, by CANNA’s Peat Mix Nutrients line, helping bring out the full character of each cultivar.

Pre-Roll 2nd Place for Green Joy

Master Grower Julien St-Arnaud took home 2nd place in the Pre-roll category for their Chocolate Kush Blunt, in what he calls a huge honor for the team.

“It validates the obsession we have with terpene expression, flavor, and overall experience,” says St-Arnaud. “We’re not chasing numbers – we’re chasing character. From structure and bag appeal to the smoothness of the smoke and the longevity of the high, every detail matters.”

St-Arnaud would be remiss not to mention their partnership with CANNA, which “allows us to consistently bring out the full genetic potential of each strain and showcase the terpenes the way they’re meant to be experienced.”

We Hope to See at the Karma Cup in 2026!

As Canada’s longest-running cannabis award, the Karma Cup recognizes the craftsmanship, discipline, and innovation that drive the country’s cultivation scene.

Congratulations to every grower who brought their best flower forward in 2025. Not only does entering a blind-judged competition require confidence, but it also helps raise the national standard as growers work together in friendly competition.
